Greer chamber releases 2009 program of work
GREER -- The Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce announced its 2009
program of work, divided into five divisions. The divisions include advocacy,
business development, membership development, Greer events and
“Like all businesses, the Greer chamber must have a business plan in order
to be successful,” said incoming Chairman, Vic Grout. “The plan provides
the blue print that the chamber will follow in 2009. We know 2009 will be a
challenging year for many businesses, so the Greer chamber adopted a
program of work that will provide the necessary programs and events for
our members to be successful.”
The Advocacy Division will be chaired by Donna O. Smith of Prudential C.
Dan Joyner. Its purpose is to provide leadership in support of pro-business
legislation and access to elected officials on a local, state and national level.
The Business Development Division will be led by Marvin Robinson of
Greer State Bank. Its purpose is to strengthen the local economic
environment by developing programs, events, and services that assist
business owners in growing their customer base and business. The council
will oversee programs that include: Grow, Sales Strategies for Success,
IgniteGreer, and the chamber’s Leads Group program. The Council will also
develop and oversee a new event, the Community Commerce Convention,
which will be structured for entrepreneurs, small business owners and
women in business.
The Greer Events Division will be chaired by Don Foster of All Star Storage.
The division is designed to expose the Greer community to visitors and
newcomers through the implementation of community festivals and events.
The Greer Events Council will oversee the Greer Chili Cook-off, the Greer
Family Festival and the Greer Station Oktoberfest.
The Leadership Development Division will be led by Alexis Lockyer of Sports
Spine & Industrial. This group will develop a corps of volunteers through
Leadership Greer, Junior Leadership Greer and the Leadership Greer Alumni
The Membership Development Division will be chaired by Wanda Moore. Its
purpose is to increase membership at the chamber through member
development initiatives, member communication, member engagement and
